1st Datchet at The 24th World Scout Jamboree

Date: 12th Jul 2019 Author: Steven Carson

The Group is proud to wish Ella the best of luck as she prepares to jet off to the 24th World Scout Jamboree in North America!

Ella joined 1st Datchet in 2014 as a Scout and has gone on to become part of our Young Leader team. After attending a selection event in 2017, Ella was chosen to represent the UK as part Royal Berkshire’s Unit 62 (Berkshire Blue Bears).

It’s been a long journey for all the successful applicants, each had to raise £4000 to fund their trip. Ella has put in a massive fundraising effort, along with the help of her family, friends and the Group to raise the money needed. She’s now only a few days away from having fantastic experience.

The 2019 WSJ is based in North America, with the hosting being shared by Canada, Mexico and the United States. The main experience will be held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. This is a huge (approximately 11,400 acres) purpose built Scouting adventure facility. The UK contingent will get to experience world class activates including white water rafting and the world’s longest zip line! Not only that but they will get to meet and experience cultures from all around the world. It is set to be an experience like no other. We can’t wait to hear about it!
